Sassafras (genus)

Sassafras is a genus of plants, the laurel family (Lauraceae). There are three species of which one in eastern North America and two occur in China.

Description

The leaves are alternate and can be fitted fiedernervig and entire or lobed with three main nerves. The inflorescences are in the axils of leaves transitional, there are botryoides, which are sometimes almost doldenartig.

The flowers are triadic and can be apparently unisexual or bisexual at least. The bracts are likeness and not on the fruit resistant. Of the three circles of three stamens is the inner circle at the base of each dust sheet formed a pair of glands.

The stamens are longer than the anthers. These can be two-or four-chambered and are addressed in all stamen circles outward. In four-chambered anthers, the pollen sacs in two superimposed pairs are arranged.

A fourth circle of sterile stamens (Staminoiden) is weak or missing. The base of the flower is small and flat, in a purely male flowers has not been stamped. The fruit is at a modest level of husk, which becomes the thickened stem.
